Investor Seeks Justice Ministryβs Intervention in YY Capital Dispute
PHNOM PENH, Cambodia β A shareholder in YY Capital Partners Co., Ltd. has appealed to Cambodiaβs Ministry of Justice to step in amid a high-profile dispute involving the companyβs chairman, Yamada Taihei. The investor alleges serious misconduct, claiming he was defrauded and financially harmed through breaches of trust linked to the companyβs operations.
In letters sent to authorities, the investor claims that Yamada, a Japanese national, manipulated property transactions in Cambodia, reportedly inflating purchase prices. Preliminary findings suggest that around $4 million may have been misappropriated for personal gain and for others connected to the transactions.
The letters further allege the creation of fictitious business deals, including loans exceeding $7 million, as well as document forgery and significant cash diversions routed through shell companies tied to Yamada and alleged accomplices. Some of the funds, the investor claims, were transferred to an overseas bank account in the name of Yamadaβs wife, Ye Jun.
According to the investor, Yamada also established a network of shell companies in Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, and Cambodia, using nominees while maintaining direct control over bank accounts and financial transactions.
In Cambodia, prosecutors have already filed charges in at least two criminal cases involving Yamada and others, and court orders have frozen certain assets and accounts. Investigations are reportedly ongoing, with authorities in China, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and the United States examining allegations that include embezzlement, document forgery, breach of trust, and money laundering.
The investor is urging Cambodian courts and officials to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation, warning that without proper oversight, suspects could attempt to evade accountability, intimidate witnesses, or destroy evidence.
YY Capital Partners and Yamada Taihei have not commented publicly on the allegations.
